Blowing Off The Cobwebs

It's been a difficult couple of weeks for me. I have a lot on my plate at the moment and sometimes I think that I get a bit overwhelmed. When I feel like this, being effective or efficient in any part of my life is really difficult.

I bought a book on my Kindle a few weeks ago called Run, Fat Bitch, Run by Ruth Field(I bought it for a laugh but ended up really enjoying it). It's all about using walking and then eventually running to change your life. I can see a lot of sense in it although it's not for the faint hearted or easily offended.

Since reading the book, I have started walking a 3 mile circuit at least 4 x a week and I find that afterwards I feel like a new person. I didn't walk on Sunday or today and I really feel the difference. I have been an emotional wreck today and totally scatter brained. When I walk, I have the time to really think things through in my head, blow of the cobwebs and get ready for the day ahead. I prefer to walk first thing in the morning even if it means getting up before the birds. There is nothing nicer than walking when the sun is rising, it's a magical feeling.

The whole point of the book is that all you need to do is walk/run. If you do this, everything else will fall into place. Weight loss will be a side effect, fitness inevitable and you will have a mental clarity that you never thought was possible.

  1. I think I might have to invest in this book! I have started running, to tone up and lose a few excess pounds but also as a stress buster, I have been so busy recently that I have been totally overwhelmed and things have crashed in and I havent had time to run and can really feel it. I did 4 miles yesterday and felt so much better for it. I hope to do another run on wednesday as it makes a huge difference. xx

  2. I will of course now be buying this book.  Yes indeed, the hours before sunrise are called the ambroisal hours and it is THE best time to meditate.  And you can meditate while you walk.
I walk with Aaron and the buggy A LOT as I don't drive.
Thanks for a great post. Thanks for linking up.
And the t-shirt made me belly laugh :-)

  3. I have been jogging with the WiiFit for the past month or so and I am just about ready to get some decent trainers and head out into the real world. Quite like the idea of getting up first thing, before everyone else and leaving the house for half an hour... Unfortunately my OH is supremely bad at getting up in the morning and the LM is too young to be left to his own devices just yet...  The book sounds brilliant though, might have to invest!

  6. I go before my wee one is up in the morning (he wakes about 7.30am) so I leave about 6.30. My hubby stays in bed unless JC wakes up before I get back. x
